Hi!

I am Beril Cakir and I love painting. I am a fortunate one with a secure day job to support this relatively expensive hobby. If you realized, I cannot call myself an artist yet, as I do not have the talent, the training or the experience of many others. I did not have to go through the struggles of an artist to prove myself in this very competitive field either. As I said, I just love painting. After years of traveling across the United States and Europe, seeing great Masters’ paintings, one day I realized I wanted to paint, too. Do you remember Bob Ross on TV? Remember him painting a “happy tree” next to the creek? I had to have different types of brushes first, for sure, especially, a fan brush, but what size? My brief learning experience in Acrylic Painting 101 at a Community College ended with an “incomplete” due to my work schedule. However, I kept painting, as most of my friends and family encouraged me to. After several years of painting, now, I am ready to share my paintings with y’all!

As you will see, in my paintings, I like to use bright, cheerful colors and unexpected contrasts. Anything and everything, from a photo in a magazine to a sunset, may inspire me to paint. I like nature, fall colors, and flowers. I like painting buildings with character, street lampposts, and cityscapes. I love Impressionists, would like to be one; definitely, I am far from Realism. I do not follow any rules. You will recognize the imperfection is part of my paintings, I never correct or repaint a crooked line; nothing needs to be perfect. I may paint the brightest colored buildings in the darkest night or add no shadows in a sunset, depending on how I feel at that moment.

Here are my paintings for you to check out. If you are interested in starting to paint, don’t wait, go ahead and start; if you are already painting, please keep on painting and share the joy with others. Have a great day filled with bright colors!
